Metro Bus Operator Program

In an effort to respond to the Metro’s growing need to fill hundreds of vacant bus operator positions, CCD has developed and implemented a ground-breaking training program in partnership with Metro, LA Valley College, and the Literacy Network of Greater Los Angeles since August 2006.

Upon completion of eligibility determination and assessment, candidates are placed in a “Fast-track” 2-week class, where a customized curriculum will prepare the candidates to succeed in obtaining a career as a Metro Bus Operator. This intensive curriculum includes: customer service skills, test taking techniques, critical thinking, time management, and positive study habits.

To date, this collaborated effort of all partners has resulted in the preparation of approximate 240 individuals for hiring with over 170 hired and/or expected to be hired by Metro.

Metro Bus Operator training will carry on as the City continues to strive to meet the continuing demand for qualified bus operators.
